52-week Batterer’s Intervention Program (Penal Code 1203.098)
Approved by the LA County Probation Department
The program is designed to help the perpetrator in the relationship identify abusive behaviors, unlearn those behaviors and learn alternative skills to help communicate and express their feelings in a non-violent and threatening way. Participants are either mandated by the courts, probation officer, or Department of Child and Family Services to complete these classes. Progress Reports are provided to the referring agency upon request and participants are assessed on their comprehension of the materials, attendance, participation, and their ability to put what they’ve learned into practice.
The sessions are conducted by certified facilitators skilled and trained to help participants identify anger and triggers in their lives that cause violence and disruption in relationships.
